The Lord is my shepherd: I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green Pastures, he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake, Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me, thy rod and staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever

Tsingtao Dragonmaster CDX, CGC"Max"

I guess if it wasn't for Max, we wouldn't have Clumbers at all. When I had Max, the Shar Pei, I told Marla she could have a dog too, especially since we were going to dog shows and obedience trials. I felt that Marla was naked without a dog.

So after much research and being on waiting lists, we got Jinx. Since Jinx had been abused and was insecure about a lot of things, she became attached to Max, who in turn became her guardian.

Max was a clown and a therapy dog, as well as an obedience dog. He was an ambassador to the Shar Pei breed, and loved everything animal, vegetable or mineral.

Max was the first CD and CDX Shar Pei in California and one of the the first Shar Pei in the breed overall to get his degrees. He was also trained in tracking and through Utility, but became totally blind by the age of 10. That still didn't stop Max! One couldn't even tell he was blind since he still knew how to jump the fence, go up and down stairs and find his way outside.

Max lived nearly 15 years, which is rare for the breed and a good record for any dog. Max was the epitome of faithfulness and companionship. To this day, I love the Shar Pei breed, but will never get another one because of Max. It just wouldn't be the same.

Ch. Cypress Woods Diplomat "Jinx" CGC
(pedigree)

Jinx was our first Clumber, and got the ball rolling. She came to us after much research in 1988 at 13 months old. Jinx needed a lot of work and socialization as she had been abused by kids.

We managed to get her into the show ring and she became a champion shortly thereafter. Jinx got her CGC and loved being a therapy dog. She did a short stint in obedience. Her favorite tricks were eating and sleeping and she blended in well with the carpet. So, we nicknamed her the dirty rug. She loved to pull the skin off tennis balls and "woo woo" to her toys.

Her best friend and protector was our Shar-Pei, Max.
Jinx lived until the ripe old age of 13. She might have gone on a little longer, but she managed to eat something that didn't agree with her and she died shortly after surgery. She is sadly missed, but will always be the reigning queen of Bella Vita.

Tavirosh Purple People Eter CD CGC "Elvis" (pedigree)
Elvis was Clumber #2 to enter our lives, but will always be Clumber #1. He was our golden child and the love of our lives. After we got Jinx, there was a dry spell in the States and no Clumbers were available. We finally decided to import one from the UK.

We were put in contact with Bill and Marjorie Ironside, and that's where the history of Bella Vita began. Elvis came to us at 10 weeks old as a big, gorgeous puppy.

Unfortunately, there are no guarantees in the dog world, and Elvis fell apart at seven months old. Though not fit for the show ring, he was still a champion in our hearts and minds. Elvis achieved his CD degree in five shows, and got his CGC. He was working toward his CDX, when his life fell short at a mere four years old. He died of AutoImmune Hemolytic Anemia. Elvis had a huge heart and a personality to go along with it. He was much loved and had many admirers. He had Chutzpah and charisma. Elvis is still sadly missed by many, and to this day we still cry when think about him.
A/C Ch. Tavirosh Lincoln Green of Belcrum, CGC, TDI "Grandpa Willy" (pedigree)

Willy Will was a lover and a gentleman. Marla brought him over from England at three years of age. He was Elvis' sire though they didn't look a thing alike. We loved Elvis so much that we went back and got his dad!

Willy loved working in the field and obedience. In the UK he was Top Sire one year and had his working certificate. He had several Best In Shows in England and was two Challenge Certificates short of being a full champion. Back in the States, Willy finished his American championship quite quickly. He also had many group placements and was a Top 10 Clumber. He did the same in Canada.

Willy is the sire of several litters, both in the States and England. He is also the sire of our foundation bitch, Ch. Alpine Lincoln Continental "Chevy." Grandpa Willy never met a stranger, and he loved everything, especially little children. Willy would try to get down on the ground as close to a child's level as possible and make himself tiny for them. Willy's nickname was "lover lover" and he certainly lived up to his name. We miss the man.

BIS A/C CH Clussexx Make Mine A Double
"Dewars"

OFA Good, CERF clear
(pedigree)

Dewars wins Best Veteran at the CSCA 2003 National Specialty.

Dewars came to us from Doug Johnson of Clussexx Kennels. Although Dewars is a mature adult, he is still energetic and as silly, and sometimes crazy as a young puppy.

Dewars finished his American Championship at an early age and has been a Top 10 Clumber ever since. In 1998, Dewars was the #1 Clumber All Systems and the Pedigree Award Winner.

Dewars is a multi group winning and group placing Best In Show Clumber. He is a three-time National Specialty Award of Merit winner. Everywhere Dewars goes he has a fan club and a cheering section. He likes to make his presence known wherever he is by barking and carrying on.

Dewars was a contender on the Animal Planet Eukanuba Cup Series and was on TV. He is also a Canadian champion and a Top 5 Canadian Clumber, who loves showing off, being in the spotlight, and getting attention. Dewars thinks the world revolves around him and he loves to perform and work the crowd. The more the crowd goes wild, the better Dewars performs.

Dewars is like the Energizer Bunny and never stops. He is a vibrant dog who is always on the go. Dewars doesn't get older, he just gets better.

Dewars passed away suddenly on 10/21/03 from a brief illness, due to renal failure caused by a severe ecoli infection. We don't have any answers for this as far as how and why it happened, only that it did and that stuff happens and sometimes there is no explanation. We are both shocked and saddened by his loss. Dewars was an ambassador to the Clumber breed, a wonderful example of the breed, and a great contributor to it. He is greatly missed.

CH Alpine Lincoln Continental
"Mama Chevy"

CERF clear
5-9-93 - 1-5-04

(pedigree)

Chevy is the heart and soul of Bella Vita--our rock and our foundation. She has excelled in the show ring, becoming a top 10 Clumber, and a number one bitch.

Her achievements are numerous. She has secured many Best of Breed wins, including Clumber supported specialties. Also, Best Opposite Sex and an Award of Merit at Westminster, Best Opposite Sex at American Spaniel Club, Award of Merit from the Clumber Spaniel Club of America National Specialty, Drumhill Cup winner and CSCA and Pedigree Top Brood Bitch.

In three litters, Chevy has produced 10 champions, both American and Candadian, some of which are Top 10 Clumbers in both countries. She has also produced CSCA Award of Merit winners, multiple group placers and group winners, 6 OFA #s so far, a TD and many avid hunters and obedience contenders.

Chevy is now spayed and enjoys retirement. She is letting her children and grandchildren take the driver's seat, while she lounges on the couch. Chevy's super temperament and "joie de vivre" surpasses her record in the show ring. She lives up to her nickname as "Red Hot Mama" and "Clumberdoms' Sophie Tucker."

Mama Chevy left us suddenly and peacefully at home after a brief bout with Osteogenic Sarcoma. She will be greatly and sadly missed. Chevy was a driving force behind the breed and her strengths and character are still passed on through her offspring and their offspring today and for years to come. Always cheerful, happy, easy, stoic and ever faithful and kind until the end.

Bella Vita Cool Britannia "Nathan"

D.O.B. 3-18-05
Owner: Alexandra and Hugh Amick of Vancouver, WA , CO-owned by Paula
Breeder: Paula
Sire: CH Bella Vita Devil's Dew
Dam: A/C CH Bella Vita Biscotti

Nathon has only been shown 4 times and has both majors, including a BOB from the 6-9 puppy class first time out. Still too early to tell where he is going, Nate is already excelling in his obedience classes and is an extremely friendly, mellow and well behaved young man. Long, low and massive is definitely Nate, with that perfect straight and flat white coat. The future is certainly ours to see.

Nathan went to the Rainbow Bridge shortiy after his first birthday, due to a sudden freak and unfortunate accident. We are fortunate however to have three offspring of his to carry on his legacy into the future of Bella Vita.

Paris came to us from Bill Ironside in England. He was 13 months old and undocked. Although tails were not yet accepted in the American Standard, Paris was so true to type with his massive bone, correct proportions and excellent movement, that Doug Johnson of Clussexx Kennels agreed to show him.

Paris finished his championship quite quickly, and earned a group placement on top of it. Doug used him at stud and he sired the multi BIS/BISS A/C Ch. Clussexx Billy Goat's Gruff.

Some of Paris' show accomplishments have been: Canadian Champion, multiple BOBs and a Clumber Supported BOB, Award of Merit at the Clumber Spaniel Club of America National Specialty, the only natural tailed Clumber Spaniel thus far to have attained several several Group placements in the United States, CSCA Top Stud Dog and Pedigree Award Winning Stud.

Paris is the sire of many Top 10 Clumbers and Group Winners. Paris also achieved his Working Dog and Junior Hunter Titles in one long weekend of five straight shows, trained and handled by Darrell Reeves. Paris also has his CGC and Therapy Dog titles.

Now retired and at home on the ranch, Paris enjoys hanging out with his "bitches" and smelling the flowers like Ferdinand the Bull. Paris is a laid back, and extremely mellow fellow. He likes listening to country music, and enjoys an occasional bowl of spaghetti. Everyone has commented that Paris' easygoing nature and good temperament shines through in his offspring.

On August 4, 2007, at the age of thirteen and a half, Paris went to the Rainbow Bridge. He went painless and peaceful, and is now running and playing with friends and relatives among purple flowers, stopping occasionally for a "spaghetti break" He was a tremendous asset and improvement to the Clumber Spaniel breed as well as an icon. Rest In Peace, oh great one.

CH Bella Vita La Dolce Vita
"Taylor"

Miss Taylor is Scotti's full sister. She was named after Elizabeth Taylor because her markings reminded us of Liz's eye makeup in Cleopatra.

Taylor is a diva and tries to rule the house and make all the boys walk a thin line. She is very serious and worries a lot. She's a pill.

Taylor hasn't been shown very much, but she finished her championship at an early age and has many BOBs and a group placement to her credits. She likes working obedience and the field.

"Miss T" is happiest when she is at home sleeping at our feet. Taylor is very jealous and likes to hoard all the toys. Her hearing is exceptionally keen and she can hear a kibble drop from miles away, even from a deep sleep. Everybody needs a Taylor in their lives. She is a very special girl.

Taylor became ill with Lymphoma and was sent on her journey to the Rainbow Bridge September 20, 2007. She will always have a special place in our hearts. Taylor, we loved you so.

UKC CH Enrichetta Delors'
"Rica"

OFA Good

May 5, 2000 - October 31, 2009

Rica is not a Clumber at all, but a Bracco Italiano. After many years of research, and an interest in getting an "accessory dog," we decided on a Bracco and went to Lucia Delor de Ferrabouc of Italy to get our girl.

Rica, who thinks like, and tries to be a Clumber, is actually quite the opposite. She is much easier to maintain, train, and put up with. She is also a much softer and more sensitive dog, who can spend her entire day running the property pointing birds and hunting rabbits.

I have never had a breed of dog who has learned commands and obedience as quick as Rica. She also retains all she has learned. Rica lives to please and she is extremely sensitive. She doesn't take well to the slightest raise in voice or eyebrow, but would surely give up her life to help if put in that position. Rica is a real "in your face" kind of dog and tries to be a lap dog and is also very much a couch potato, extremely clean and obedient in the house.

Rica loves everyone and is very trustworthy, gentle and sweet. There is not one mean bone in her body. She has a sense of humor and is quite competitive with Miss Beans, who is also her best friend. Rica is a lost soul when Beans isn't around. Rica is also a great nanny and baby-sitter to the Clumber puppies.

Although a rare breed and not AKC recognized, Rica is already a Jungsten International Champion, with many group wins and placements. She has won Best Rare Breed Puppy In Show and Best Reserve Puppy In Show. As an adult, Rica has both UKC and ARBA group wins and is an ARBA Best In Show Winner. She holds a bright and exciting future ahead of her, with a lot of possibilities and potential. Although we feel there is nothing like a Clumber Spaniel, we love our Enrichetta, she has kind of grown on us. Rica left us for the Rainbow Bridge October 31, 2009, to Lymphoma. She was stoic, faithful and happy until the end, and among Clumber friends.

Lillian loves everyone and thinks they are all her friends, particularly her best bud Nadia the Silver Tabby. Lillian is Co-owned by Rick Shriver

Rest In Peace Momma's Girl, taken away suddenly on February 22, 2010...she brought a lot of joy to people's lives because of her joyous zest for life. We love and miss her something awful.

Scotti's nickname is "Bub" and he's a real smart aleck. Stubborn and cocky, Scotti loves to showoff and get laughs. He's a spoiled child and will let you know if he doesn't get his way. Scotti is the son of Paris and Chevy and is unlike either of them in personality.

Scotti is a beautiful boy with a wonderful head and lots of bone and coat. He finished both his American and Canadian titles at a young age with many group placements, and has been a Top 10 Clumber in both countries. Scotti is also a dad and has offspring in the US and Canada.

Scotti is one of my favorite Clumbers because he's so rotten and is the devil in disguise. Scotti enjoys watching TV and his favorite show is the Crocodile Hunter with Steve Irwin. He is very nosey and is an extremely busy fellow. You gotta love him.

Scotti went peacefully to The Rainbow Bridge at the age of 13 years and 7 months. He never had a sick day in his life, he just grew old and tired. He is forever young again, with family and friends in Heaven. God Speed my #1 son, first born and home boy. You will always be my in my heart as my favorite bad boy.
